Rome, Italy: Day 2 - The Vatican

Hey guys :)

So we weren’t actually planning on going inside the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel but some how we got hustled into buying tickets for a tour of it all. I guess we just weren’t that smart at being tourists, but nevertheless it was still an amazing place from the inside.

The tour guide showed us around the whole place and discussed the history behind all the paintings and statues. Something I found interesting and rather funny was the fact that all the statues inside the museum had their genitals cut off!! Some of them had them cut off completely while others were cut off and replaced with a leaf. The tour guide said the reason behind this was there was a pope who didn’t like the naked statues and ordered for all of the to have their genitals cut off!!! However I still found it to be hilarious (I guess that was pretty childish of me).

The Vatican museum was filled with artwork, literally from the ceiling to the floor. It was truly beautiful. When we got to the Sistine Chapel we weren’t allowed to take any photos inside therefore I couldn’t take pictures but it was absolutely fascinating.

The weather on the day was so lovely we decided to chill out in the Vatican sun for a while.

Overall the Vatican City was seriously beautiful, when you get to the outside of the chapel it is absolutely breath-taking. Words cannot even describe the beauty of the place.

The day wouldn’t have been complete if we didn’t finish off with some more gelato!!!

Thank you for reading I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you soon. For more posts like this please follow me through bloglovin.
